COVID-19 cases in Quezon City increases to 113, death toll at 19

The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Quezon City rose to 113 on Saturday, the city government said in a bulletin.

The Quezon City government said nine new cases were added as of 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The death toll went up to 19 after two deaths were reported on Saturday.

No new recoveries were reported, and the number of total recoveries remained at nine.

The nine new cases were from the following barangays:

Masambong: 1;  Sto. Cristo: 1;  Batasan Hills: 1;  Libis: 1;  Matandang Balara:1;  Kristong Hari: 1;  Sikatuna Village: 1;  and Pasong Tamo: 2.

Government authorities said the following barangays as of 7 p.m Saturday were placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine after two or more confirmed cases on different streets have been reported and/or are in congested urban poor areas:

Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo,  San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, and San Isidro Labrador.

Barangay Central does not have a COVID-19 case but has been placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine since a number of hospitals are located on East Avenue.

The city government said disinfection of streets and highways is continuously being done by the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office together with the Quezon City Fire Department.

A total of 131 barangays have been disinfected as of Saturday.

The city government also said it has already distributed 780,000 food packs.

On Saturday at 4 p.m., the Department of Health (DOH) reported the country’s total COVID-19 cases reached 1,075 as more testing is being done.

The death toll is at 68 while total recoveries numbered 35.

As of Saturday, the DOH has tested a total of 2,686 individuals.

Of these, 920 have tested negative and 667 have pending results.

Meanwhile, the Quezon City government has prepared 100 isolation tents at the Quezon City Memorial Circle to serve as an additional quarantine facility for PUIs and PUMs.
