MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is in favor of suspending classes at all schools and universities in Metro Manila next week.

This is to enable the country to hold smoothly the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games which is scheduled to be held in the country from November 30 to December 11.

In a news conference, DILG Undersecretary and Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said that the department supports the idea of suspending classes in Metro Manila to reduce traffic congestion throughout the SEA Games, especially in areas that would be used as venues in games.

It is known that there are 19 official venues of the SEA Games in Metro Manila.

Arellano Law School, St. Scholastica’s College and De La Salle University-Manila have already ordered class suspensions from December 2 to December 7 because of the said Games.

On the other hand, St. Paul College Pasig and St. Pedro Poveda College have classes suspended from December 2 to 6. (Gelica Paulo/IAMIGO/CNS)
