The love ones of the missing sabungeros expressed their relief and hope that the case is finally going somewhere after a long wait.
Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla said that investigation will continue.
“It is just right that the DOJ probably starts sifting through the statements made by the witnesses and the complainants to know what really happened. This will be a long process. We need to be patient”. Said Remulla
The witness Dondon Patidongan or “Alyas Totoy” also pointed actress Gretchen Barretto as a suspect. Barretto’s camp denied the allegation.
“It is rare to have a highly-placed witness embedded in a criminal organization. I believe this is the first time in Philippine history that we have a whistleblower for the actions of a criminal organization,” Remulla said regarding “Alyas Totoy”, adding his testimony as “highly reliable.”
Regarding the investigation, Remulla assured that they will be fair and that they “won’t condemn anyone without a proper hearing. Due process is essential — no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.”
Ang denied the allegation and filed a complaint against his former employee.
