Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan II, whose full name is Gregorio Ballesteros Honasan II, is a retired Philippine Army officer and politician. He first gained national recognition as one of the key leaders of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement (RAM), which played a crucial role in the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. This peaceful uprising led to the ousting of then-President Ferdinand Marcos and the restoration of democracy in the Philippines. Honasan’s military background and leadership during this historic period cemented his reputation as a figure committed to reform and national change.

Following his military career, Honasan transitioned into politics, serving as a senator for several terms. As a senator, he focused on national security, public order, and social welfare. He was known for championing measures aimed at improving the lives of military personnel, strengthening national defense, and promoting social justice. His legislative work reflected his deep understanding of the challenges facing the country, particularly in terms of security and governance.

In addition to his military and political career, Honasan also served as the Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). In this role, he aimed to improve the country’s digital infrastructure and expand internet access across the Philippines. Honasan’s career reflects his enduring commitment to public service, national security, and the advancement of the Filipino people.
