A trainer aircraft belonging to the Philippine Air Force (PAF) crashed at the San Fernando Airbase in Lipa City, Batangas.
Reports said that prior to the incident, it was conducting a standard training flight.
According to the PAF, the SF260FH Marchetti aircraft had “encountered problems” upwind in one of the airbase’s runways.
None of the pilots operating the plane were hurt as they were able to move the plane despite the low altitude.
There were also no damage to nearby communities.
“Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene for the successful extrication of the pilots. Thankfully, both pilots, after going through the mandatory medical checks, have both been declared safe and are undergoing treatment,” the PAF said.
An investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the incident while they recover the pieces of the aircraft.
The Air Force said that the flight training had “inherent risks” nevertheless, they assured the public of their “strict” adherence to maintenance and operational protocols.
