The country’s unemployment rate increased slightly to 4.3 percent in December 2022 from 4.2 percent in November last year, according to data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Wednesday.
PSA’s preliminary results of the December 2022 Labor Force Survey indicated that there were 2.22 million unemployed persons aged 15 and above during December, for an unemployment rate of 4.3 percent. This is slightly higher than the estimated 2.18 million unemployed Filipinos in November, showing an unemployment rate of at 4.2 percent.
Furthermore, the labor force participation rate for December was at at 66.4 percent or 51.22 million individuals, lower than the 67.5 percent in the same month of the previous year.
