Militants belonging to the League of Parents of the Philippines (LPP) burn an effigy of DOLE Secretary Bello and that of a “horned” CPP-NDF chairman Joma Sison image on Monday, 20 January 2020 right in front of Bello’s office building in Intramuros, Manila as they dramatize their disagreement on Belo’s alleged secret “back-channel” efforts for the Duterte Administration to proceed with the suspended peace talks with Sison’s group.

Bearing placards urging Bello to “Save OFWs Not the Terrorist CCP-NPA” and “ARREST Joma Sison,” the LPP urged the Duterte government to immediately arrest the communist party leader instead of holding peace talks with his group. (BENJAMIN CUARESMA/IAMIGO/Currentph.com)
