Owing to its relentless campaign against human trafficking, operatives of the NBI’s Anti-organized and Transnationals Crime Division arrested 15 Chinese nationals for human trafficking in two separate operations in Las Pinas City.
Presented to the media, Tuesday (17 December 2019), the suspects were accordingly involved in “high-tech” prostitution operation using text messages and catering to fellow Chinese Philippine Overseas Gaming Operators (POGO) workers.
Acting on a Department Order issued by Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra to investigate the alleged entry of prostitutes in the country, the NBI, under Director Dante Gierran, followed a piece of important information and conducted raids in a hotel in Almanza, Las Pinas and another along Alabang Zapote Road.
The twin operations led to the arrest of Chinese nationals namely Li Zhe Peng, Liu Fei Fai, Sun Li Guan Quan and 12 more suspects. (BENJIE CUARESMA/IAMIGO/CNS)
