Duterte, Misuari scheduled to meet in Davao City

Manila, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to meet with Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chairman Nur Misuari in Davao City next Friday (December 13, 2019) to discuss long and lasting peace in southern Mindanao.

Go said that he had set up a Peace Coordinating Committee to discuss how they could Misuari help the government when it comes to achieving peace in Mindanao.

The senator also revealed that the country’s government and the MNLF had earlier agreed to set up a peace coordinating committee between the two sides.

Go said Misuari will abide by its oath of allegiance for helping promote peace in Mindanao.

It was gathered the Dec 13 meeting is the third time of its kind between the president and Misuari. It was in Malacañang where the first meeting took place last on February 25.

Go said the Duterte administration is now looking at the possibility of forming a regional government for areas under the influence of the MNLF. (Marian Sinamban/IAMIGO/CNS)
