With its unit price per kilo higher than pork and poultry meat products, galunggong (blue mackerel scad) is not for the common-tao’s consumption anymore. Galunggong or “GG” has taken over prices of pork and chicken with its prohibitive P190 to P200 a kilo unit price. Blame it to intermittent weather on the high seas where they are gathered by fishermen, who, because of high risk these days out there, in turn, push fish port prices up and so are at public markets.
