Azkals U22 draws with Cambodia, 1-1, in SEA Games opener

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine under-22 men’s Football team escaped with a 1-1 draw against Cambodia in their Southeast Asian Games opener on Monday, 25 November 2019, at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

Cambodia scored the opener courtesy of forward Keo Sokpheng in the 41st minute of the game.

Dennis Chung, who came off the bench, fired home the goal saving the young Azkals in their opening game.

The Philippines in Group A along with Cambodia, Myanmar and Malaysia tallied one point each.

On the other hand, Vietnam led the Group B charge after dominating Brunei with 6-0 drubbing at the Biñan Stadium in Laguna.

The Azkals U22 will battle Myanmar on Wednesday, November 27, at the same venue. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
