MANILA, Philippines — In an advisory, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday afternoon (22 November 2019) that rains are still expected in parts of Luzon even after “Sarah” weakened into a tropical storm.

Sarah “is no longer expected to bring significant rainfall activity over the country,” but Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna and Bulacan will experience light to moderate rains due to the northeast monsoon, according to PAGASA’s 11 a.m. advisory.

“Gusty conditions may still be experienced today over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the surge of the Northeast Monsoon,” it said.

Sarah weakened into a tropical storm at 8 a.m., with maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kph and gusts of up to 105 kph, PAGASA said.

It was last spotted at 430 km northeast of Basco, Batanes.

With a speed of 15kph, Sarah is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) between Friday evening and Saturday morning. (Marian Sinamban/IAMIGO/CNS)
