MANILA, Philippines — TNT import KJ McDaniels spearheaded the KaTropa’s offense to win, 114-109, over the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA Governors Cup elimination round on Wednesday at the Ynares Center.

McDaniels had a stellar performance after erupting for 44 points as the KaTropa snapped a three-game skid to defeat the Beermen who missed the services of Arwind Santos, Kelly Nabong and Ronald Tubid.

The three were suspended indefinitely after figuring a fight on the sidelines with deported import Dez Wells in Sunday’s practice at the Upper Deck Sports Center in Ortigas.

Troy Rosario scored 30 points with 10 rebounds for the KaTropa.

While RR Pogoy added 17 points. Jayson Castro returned to the lineup from injury and posted 12 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds.

San Miguel got 25 points from their Import John Holland, 17 in the second half, in a huge effort that just fell short.

Terrence Romeo led the local attack with 18 points while Chris Ross and Marcio Lassiter were good for 16 each.

Game 1 of TNT’s quarterfinals clash against Magnolia is on Monday, Nov. 25 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

On the other hand, San Miguel will try to overcome the disadvantage against Ginebra on Sunday, Nov. 24 also at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Meralco and Alaska will also battle it out in the first game there. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
