Pinoy Dancesport Duo bags Silver in Kaunas Open in Lithuania

MANILA, Philippines — Pilipino Dancesport Duo Michael Angelo Marquez and Stephanie Sabalo clinched a silver medal on Sunday, 07 November 2019, at the 2019 Kaunas Open in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Marquez and Sabalo took home the first runner-up title among the contestants from 18 countries in the Rising Stars Latin Open category, which were dominated by Norway’s Tarjei Noestvoid Svalastog and Anna Caroline Fladby.
While Estonia’s Kristo Kama and Mariann Hendrikson pocketed the bronze medals.

Michael Angelo Marquez and Stephanie Sabalo will represent the Philippines in the dancesport competition in the 30th Southeast Asian Games on December 1 at Royce Hotel in Clark, Pampanga.

As part of its buildup, the Marquez-Sabalo partnership, who started out competing in local dancesport tournaments in Myanmar, participated in 8 international competitions this year in Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Thailand, Vietnam and Lithuania.

Last October, they also bagged the gold medal in the Grade A Latin contest of the 23rd DSCPI National Dancesport & Breaking Championships. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
