Manila allots P20M fund for Jones Bridge’s restoration

MANILA, Philippines – The City of Manila has allocated a total of 20 million pesos for the restoration of the famous Jones Bridge here.

The LGU said Monday, 04 November 2019, upgrade, restoration and reconstruction works are now in full swing.

Accordingly, the on-going modernization and preservation of the bridge is a necessary project or program of the local government unit as it forms part of the colorful history of Manila.

The bridge, which has been a location shoot for many Filipino and foreign movies already smart with new street lights and lamp posts that are marvelous to watch at night time.

In all, there are about 80 lights with different colors and new designs are now greatly visible at Jones Bridge. Planter boxes were also installed on the bridge’s center island.

Officials said reconstruction works on the bridge are to be done thoroughly including repainting of the whole structure.

And as such Julius Leonen, Chief of Manila Public Information Office, said they have no specific date as yet for the inauguration of the Jones Bridge.

Nevertheless, news of the bridge’s refurbishment scattered and may have already regained its old glory as people now frequent the place, taking selfies and some doing pre-nuptial photo sessions. (Gelica Paulo/IAMIGO/CNS)
