The British parliament agreed on having a general snap election on December 9, several weeks ahead of a January 31 deadline on Brexit. It was a gamble that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is willing to make to ensure his continued stay in power. But, many see this as a gamble that will eventually lead to a disastrous fate for the prime minister.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party enjoys a 35% lead over the Labour Party in several polls, but the Labour Party supported Johnson for the snap elections, obviously, to openly challenge the hold of the Conservative Party.
Johnson had been receiving public condemnation for weeks after his failure to effect Brexit.
