Survey Reveals Growing Public Anger Over Water, Food and Power Costs

A new public opinion survey highlights growing concern among Filipinos over rising food prices, water supply issues, and increasing electricity costs. In this episode of The Agenda Forum, experts, consumer advocates, and business representatives examine the challenges affecting households and small enterprises across the country.

Martin Xavier D. Peñaflor, President and CEO of Tangere, presents survey findings showing strong public concern over food and water issues and low satisfaction with government response efforts. The discussion also explores the PrimeWater controversy, the San Jose del Monte water crisis, utility regulation, consumer complaints, fuel price increases, and the continuing impact of inflation on everyday life.

Consumer advocate RODOLFO “KA RJ” JAVELLANA JR. shares insights on the most common complaints received from Filipino consumers, while Jonathan Chua and Elena Urbino discuss the realities faced by small entrepreneurs dealing with higher operating costs and economic uncertainty.

The conversation tackles government accountability, regulatory oversight, energy prices, water accessibility, consumer protection, and the growing gap between official economic reports and the experiences of ordinary Filipinos.
