Paolo Tantoco Death Confirmed: Cocaine Overdose Cited in Coroner Report

In a recent episode of Sa Totoo Lang, journalist Ricky Rivera investigates the sudden death of Paolo Tantoco on March 8, 2025, inside a hotel in Beverly Hills. Tantoco, known as the husband of the First Lady’s social secretary and son of Igi Arroyo, was last seen dining with his wife and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos alongside a group of Filipino filmmakers. The First Lady reportedly returned to her separate hotel room at around 10 PM.

By 11 AM the following morning, Tantoco’s wife called 911 in distress—stating he was struggling to breathe. Emergency responders arrived quickly and attempted life-saving measures, but Paolo Tantoco was pronounced dead later that day.

The official Los Angeles County Coroner’s report identifies acute cocaine intoxication as the primary cause of death, with a preexisting heart condition listed as a contributing factor. Laboratory tests confirmed that the white powder recovered at the scene was indeed cocaine. While the coroner has labeled cocaine as Cause A, the secondary causes (B, C, and D) are still pending toxicology results.

The case has sparked public concern due to security lapses involving diplomatic immunity. Eyewitness reports claim that the First Lady had been in the same room earlier, raising questions about whether the drugs may have been administered intentionally or accidentally while in a high-profile diplomatic setting.

Filipino audiences will find this report a revealing deep dive—from the timeline of the film tribute event to the 911 call and coroner findings. It also sheds light on how diplomatic protections can interfere with routine security checks, especially at global events involving influential personalities.
