Workers lead commemoration of EDSA 1986 Revolution: Onward to the next one!

on

The sight of thousands—workers and students alike—marching in solidarity to commemorate the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution is proof that history’s greatest lesson still holds true: when the people unite for a common cause, revolution is inevitable. And today, our cause is clear—nothing less than the complete and total overhaul of our political system.

We cannot achieve genuine change unless we eradicate the political parasites entrenched in our government. The dynastic rule of the Marcos and Duterte families has poisoned our democracy, consolidating power for personal gain while leaving the nation in ruin. Their reign has been marked by corruption, deceit, and economic stagnation. To break free from the shackles of poverty and inequality, we must dismantle these dynasties and replace their stranglehold with a strong, institutionalized political party system—one that serves the people, not the privileged few.

The first step is clear: we must erase the influence of the Marcos and Duterte families from our political landscape. This begins with the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, the prosecution and imprisonment of her father, ex-president Rodrigo Duterte, and the renewed trial of the Marcoses for their continued failures and betrayals. The world must see that the Filipino people will no longer tolerate these political predators, who have, for decades, fed on our nation’s suffering.

The Marcos and Duterte dynasties are the worst political parasites our people have endured in centuries. They are brazen, territorial, and ruthless—driven not by public service, but by an insatiable hunger for power. Their very existence fuels the deep societal cleavages that prevent our nation from progressing. We, the people, are nothing more than collateral damage in their relentless struggle for economic and political domination.

But we are not powerless. Once these dynasties are dismantled, we must take the next step: dismantling the regional power blocs of old ruling families who have enslaved our provinces for generations. We must strip them of their power and bar them indefinitely from corrupting our electoral system.

Only then can we build a true People’s Democratic Reform Party—a genuine political movement uniting civic groups under the values of the Katipunan, the very first socio-political nationalist movement of our nation. By institutionalizing these revolutionary principles into our political system, we ensure that the struggle for true democracy and economic freedom, begun by our forebears, will not be in vain.

The time for half-measures is over. The time for revolution is now.
