LRT-1 Extension Opens, Promises Faster Commutes

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. inaugurated Phase 1 of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension Project on November 15, marking a major step in modernizing public transportation in the Philippines. The extension introduces five new stations, cutting travel time from Baclaran, Pasay City, to Bacoor, Cavite, from over an hour to just 25 minutes. It is expected to serve an additional 80,000 passengers daily, easing congestion and boosting connectivity.

With modern features like advanced passenger information systems and improved safety measures, the project aligns with national goals to enhance mobility and reduce air pollution. It underscores the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic progress. Full completion by 2027 will expand the system’s reach, accommodating up to 800,000 passengers daily, supporting growth in southern Metro Manila and beyond.

The extension is a crucial step toward a more interconnected, sustainable, and inclusive transportation network that aims to benefit commuters and stimulate local economies.
