This is the coverage of the Press Conference of the PEERS (Political, Economic, Elemental Researchers and Strategists) on the Results of the October-November 2024 Peers Survey on Filipino Senatorial and Party-List Preference. Toping the list is Erwin Tulfo, whose consistent pubic service imagw and straightforward communication style resonate deeply with Filipinos. Tulfo’s high rank likely reflects the appeal of media personalities who are perceived as approachable and in touch with the public. Following Tulfo, Ping Lacso and Tito Sotto, both established figures in Philippine politics, showcase the enduring trust in candidates with long-standing governance experience. Lacson’s reputation for discipline and anti-corruption, combined with Sotto’s legislative history, positions them as as reliable choices for a segment of voters who priorirtize stability and atrack record for public service.

Further down, Pia Cayetano and Ben Tulfo reflect the appeal of candidates perceived as champion for societal welfare, with Cayetano’s legislative focus on health and education aligning with the public’s need for policy-focused senators. Interestingly, former boxer-turned-politician Manny Pacquiao retains a strong following, likely due to his humble background and relatable rise to fame, which appeal to voters seeking authenticity in politics. The mix of seasoned politicians like Bong Revilla and Gringo Honasan with new comers like Cmaille Villar suggests a balancing act between familiarity and fresh perspectives among the electorate’s divided views, representing popularized loyalties between liberal reformists and conservative interests.

Comprehensive Insights on Paty-List Preferences

The survey also captured the top 30 party-lists that resonates with Filipino voters in the realm of party-list preferences, 4Ps leads with a significant margin, indicating a broad demand for economic empowerment and powert alleviation programs. This preference reflects the public’s economic empowerment and poverty alleviation programs. This preference reflects the public’s growing awareness of economic inequality and the critical role of policy in addressing it. Other strong contenders like Duterte Youth and Tingog Sinirangan suggest a resonance with pro-administration or nationalist sentiments, particularly in addressing issues pertinent to regional stability and national pride. Kabataan and Gabriela maintain relevance among socially conscious voters, underscoring a robust demand for representation of youth and gender-specific issues in legislation. Meanwhile, the presence of party-lists like ACT-CIS and 1AGILA highlights the public desire for safety and security, as these organization often advocate for pro-police and pro-military politics.

The middle of the ranking feature a diverse range of advocacy-focused groups like Uswag Ilonggo for regional representation and United Senior Citizens for senior welfare, reflecting specific community needs. Lower-ranking party lists such as Akbayan and Kamanggagawa suggest that there is still a place for activist and labor-centered agendas, albeit with a more niche following. The variety in party-list support shows that Filipinos are not only concerned with broad economic issues bit also value representation for marginalized and underrepresented sectors. This nuanced distribution across party-list rankings speaks to a Filipino electorate that seeks a comprehensive approach to governance, one that combines economic resilience, social justice, regional advocacy, and security initiative in shaping a responsive legislative agenda for 2025.
