Davao Congressman Pantaleon Alvarez proposes a quick solution to our territorial problem with China. To avert war, he says, the Armed Forces of the Philippines must silently or peacefully withdraw its allegiance to the Chief Executive, who happens to be his former ally, President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Junior.
By withdrawing their support, the legislator says the AFP will be doing the country a great service. And what is this service? The possibility of averting the destruction of property and lives of Filipinos who will be caught in the crossfire between China and a Western-backed military alliance.
Okey. Whew. Let’s analyze his logic.
Alvarez, a lawyer, probably knows that withdrawing support is not as peaceful as he envisions it to be. Forces close to this administration will surely fight it out. Is Alvarez so stupid to think that the Marcoses, who struggled for decades to bring themselves back to power, will wither away and pass the baton to Alvarez’s friend and demi-god, Vice President Sara Duterte that easily?
There is a risk of misunderstanding here. Alvarez’s’ logic’ seems to be: ‘Military and Police, withdraw from Bongbong Marcos and potentially ignite a civil war to avert a war with China.’ This proposal raises serious questions about its feasibility and potential consequences, and it’s important to ensure that such complex issues are communicated clearly and comprehensively.
It’s like saying that to leave a disastrous marriage, marry another, and pose as a member of an indigenous people’s tribe. There. You avert a scandalous marriage by marrying another. That’s Alvarez’ logic.
Hindi pa ba tayo sawa sa mga ganitong tao? I mean, come on! And we are speaking here about a Filipino legislator whose loyalties are highly questionable!
Alvarez should be taught a serious lesson, Mr. President. He and former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte once publicly called for the secession of Mindanao from the Republic. Mr. Alvarez even announced that he is doing the rounds in Mindanao to convince 10,000 people to sign the secession petition.
So, this second time, he publicly dared the AFP to peacefully withdraw their support for the President, is not just an expression of speech, oh no.
There are some serious pieces of evidence to suggest that such speech is seditious, which our National Security Adviser Eduardo Ano, is right about.
Time for these scumbags to be given jail time.
Our spat with China is no laughing matter. Pro-China forces are moving to weaken us, Filipinos. And now here we see a Filipino legislator trying to divide us against China? This is utterly ludicrous and revolting!
Mr. Alvarez, it is you who needs to resign from being a legislator of this Republic! The People should ask Congress to spit out Mr. Alvarez from their ranks! He does not deserve to be called Congressman.
