Is the son of God Apollo Quiboloy exempt from law?

Holy week is just around the corner. And this raging issue about the self-proclaimed son of god Apollo Quiboloy still hugs most of the headlines of our national newspapers. The issue before this is simply a bunch of people accusing their former religious idol as a child and women abuser. And because Quiboloy refuses to submit himself before the authorities trying to find out what’s wrong with our system of laws that such horrendous acts seem to exist victimizing innocents, this already became a politically charged issue.

The issue is simple—why does Mr. Quiboloy think he should not attend these Senate hearings? In his previous statements, Quiboloy believes that all of these “inquiries” are “political” witch hunts to destroy his reputation as a man of God. Quiboloy is not saying that he is not willing to submit to authorities—he is simply saying that he does not want to be pried into by legislators for the sake of “legislation.”

Okay, fair enough.

First, is it true that Congress sees him as a political target? Obviously, no. Politicians avoid direct confrontation with religious leaders, especially those who claim to influence thousands, if not millions, of believers, err, voters.

So, what motivated these politicians in the first place? Interest in Quiboloy began way, way, way back when news about him being a suspect in numerous cases of illegal recruitment and child and women molestation cases filed against him in the United States and here, in the Philippines. When his name came up in the roster of the Most Wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation or FBI in the United States of A, Quiboloy’s reputation was already in tatters. His image as a true servant of God was shattered when these cases arose. So, it is not true that these inquiries are meant to humiliate him, affect his reputation as a religious leader, or any of this stuff. No. Being on the list of the FBI’s most wanted already incinerated whatever reputation Mr. Quiboloy had when he allegedly refused to answer all those accusations about him.

The fact is, Quiboloy did not even show any remorse and even told us publicly that those former women church members just felt aggrieved because these young women, including some Ukrainians, were fighting over him. His statement validated earlier claims of sexual abuse, a lawyer told me. Quiboloy did not say categorically that those sexual encounters never happened—he said that these women were fighting over his attention. Wow, talk about a matinee idol; this man is for the books!

Second, are these hearings simply political witch hunts to get to his friend, former president Rodrigo Roa Duterte? No. These politicians acted after several former members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ went to them and filed verified complaints against Quiboloy. Who in his right mind would want to be one of Duterte’s enemies? The former president is still a beloved public figure. He still commands a vast army of his faithful. So, being on his wrong side is something of a political suicide.

Okay, so maybe Quiboloy thinks he is a Son of God who is not subject to human laws? Remember, he founded not his kingdom but the “kingdom” of Jesus Christ, universally considered the true Son of God.

So, being the founder of the kingdom of Christ, does Quiboloy qualify as a son of god? No. He leads an organization purportedly the kingdom of Christ. Christ owns that kingdom and, therefore, the organization. So Quiboloy is at least a member of that kingdom or simply the head priest, but never the owner of KJS. Yes?

Basing Quiboloy’s pronouncements, he is the Son of God and, therefore, beyond reproach, even by civil authorities. We need to be clear on this. Why? Because Quiboloy did not just proclaim himself the alternate of Christ but abrogated the lofty position of Christ as the legitimate king of that “kingdom.” By declaring himself a son of God, Quiboloy thus challenged the graceful title the True God Himself granted to Jesus when Jesus followed the ways of the One True God.

Why do we say this? Simple—if Quiboloy is a faithful follower of Christ, he must be the prime example of humility, selflessness, and a willing person who sacrificed himself and willfully submitted himself to the authorities. Christ did submit himself to civilian authorities, who tried him and crucified him. Christ willingly did that because it is in accord with God’s will.

The Apostles and the first Christians willingly died before a crowd of blood-lusted Romans inside those gladiator arenas. They willingly died for their faith. They were vilified, abused, raped, spit upon, and crucified, all in the name of their Lord, Jesus Christ. They died believing their sacrifice would give them a place in heaven, being prepared by their lord, Jesus Christ.

And here we have Mr. Apollo Quiboloy. Not only did he ascribe to himself the title given by the One True God to Jesus as Christ and the Son of God, but Mr. Apollo Quiboloy probably thinks that he is not subject to the laws of this world, being a son of God.

Quiboloy is right. Why? Apostle Paul said when Lucifer became Satan and led a rebellion against the One True God, he was cast out of heaven and thrown to this planet, earth. He thus became the god of this earth. And being the god of this earth, some believe that Satan created some laws.

Yet, if you read the bible, Satan himself, despite being a rebel, knows that he is still subject to the laws of the universe created by God. When Satan asked God for permission to worsen the lot of Job further, that request meant that Satan was still a subject of God. There is nothing that Satan can do without the expressed permission of God.

So, even Satan is subject to the laws. Don’t ever tell me that a son of god is more incredible than Jesus or Satan, huh, Mr. Quiboloy? Are you more concerned with what people might think of you than your soul? Why be afraid when, as you said, god is with you, or as you proudly proclaimed before the whole world, that you are the son of god? You are very certain that upon your death, you will inherit the kingdom right? So, why are you so afraid of what these civilian authorities will do to you? Or you doubt your faith and your fate? Which is which, Mr. Quiboloy, the son of god?
