PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group Director Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Hernia, announced the successful manhunt operation of its Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit in Region 12 and 7 which led to the arrest of the PNP ACG’s 2 Most Wanted Persons.
In General Santos City – 27-year-old Edward Anthony Cardoza, Top 1 Most Wanted Person of Region 12 was arrested on April 13, 2023 for allegedly creating a fake Facebook Account and posting nude photos of the victim on her school’s Facebook Page.
The accused was nabbed by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon Joseph A. Palmes, Presiding Judge, of the 11th Judicial Region, Branch 60, General Santos City for Criminal Case No. 22-35754 for violations of Sec 4(D) of RA 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009).
The accused was previously arrested on December 1, 2022, by a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon Joseph Palmes for violation of Grave Coercion with a recommended bail of P72,000.00 and again arrested on January 31, 2023, also by a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon Jerome Beatisola for violations of RA 9262 (Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act) with a recommended bail of Php 200,000.00 both in relation to Sec 6 of RA 10175.
In Santander, Cebu – A-55-year-old tricycle driver was also arrested on April 13, 2023, by joint elements of RACU 7 together with the 2nd PMFC CPPO and Santander MPS. Macarlito Miro Culanag was nabbed by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Judge Maria Dee Seares, Presiding Judge of Branch 6, Mandaue, Cebu City for Violations of 4 (b) of RA 9775 (Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 with a recommended bail of Two Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 200,000.00) and another Warrant of Arrest for Violation of RA 8353 (RAPE) under Criminal Case No. DU-53357 MV with no recommended bail.
“The PNP ACG, under my leadership, will continue its fight against all forms of cyber criminalities. We will remain relentless in hunting down all perpetrators of online fraud until they are placed behind bars,” PBGen. Hernia said.
