THE Philippine National Police on Monday reported a decline in the eight focus crimes from January 1, to April 8, 2023.
PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said that this is based on their monitoring which it went down by 14.69 percent or 9,345 crime incidents, from the 10,954 cases recorded in the same period last year.
Among the eight focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, carnapping of vehicles and carnapping of motorcycles.
He said that the they created measures aimed at improving police visibility as well as strengthening the police-community relations across the country.
Azurin noted that part of the security measures includes the immediate response to the complaints of the people, police presence down to the communities and aggressive coordination with local officials and stakeholders to combat crimes, particularly illegal drugs at the barangay level.
