After years of prohibition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the local government unit in Pampanga announced that they are again allowing the resumption of the crucifixion, self-flagellation and carrying of the cross, which is typically being allowed as part of tradition in the village of San Fernando for the upcoming Holy Week next month.
According to the San Fernando LGU, the activities usually held in Barangay San Pedro Cutud, San Fernando City, was halted for two years due to the pandemic.
According to devotees, this is a good news to them snce they will be able to continue with their “panata” or devotion.
The highlight of the Holy Week in Brgy. Cutud falls on Good Friday, April 7, where the actual crucifixion is being done to devotees.
However, the LGU, is advising tourists and visitors to wear face masks and practice social distancing.
