Another personnel from the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) is in hot water after he was caught stealing a smartwatch from a Chinese passenger at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

In a statement, the OTS said the suspect, a 31-year-old male, was assigned as an OTS security screening officer at NAIA Terminal 1.

OTS administrator Mao Aplasca said in his report that the incident occurred at around 2 in the morning at the security screening area.

The OTS investigations revealed that it was conducted by the OTS, the Chinese passenger said that he left his smartwatch in the tray that was being used in the x-ray machine at the security screening area.

The passenger, however, was not able to recover it and reported the incident to authorities.

It also said that the airport officials checked the CCTV footage near the security screening area, and saw the smartwatch was indeed left in the tray and that the suspect allegedly covered it with another tray and took the smartwatch.

He was arrested by the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group and is set to face theft charges.

The suspect denied the charges saying the smartwatch was not found after his colleagues checked him.
