Two Pinoys confirmed dead in Turkey

Two Pinoys were confirmed as among those dead during the massive 7.8 earthquake in Turkey and Syria with more than 21,000 reported dead and more body bags expected to be filled up in the coming days.

According to the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, Turkey naunang naiulat na nawawala ng dalawang Pinoy.

“It is with deepest regret that the Embassy must inform the public of the passing of two Filipinos. Both were earlier reported to be missing in Antakya,” sinabi ng Philippine Embassy sa isang pahayag sa kanilang facebook account.

Antakya in the province of Hatay is one of those that were devastated by the quake.

“The embassy and the consulate general express their deepest condolences and are in coordination with the victims’ families in both the Philippines and in Turkey,” the statement added.

In the same statement, the embassy likewise said that a Filipino reported missing in Antakya was already found alive.

According to the embassy they will continue to lead the Philippine rescue and evacuation team in Turkey as they aim to account for all Filipinos.

Likewise, the embassy said that they had evacuated more than 10 Filipino families and is now on their way to Ankara where they will be temporarily sheltered.
