1Sambayan says Leni will beat Sara in 2022

1Sambayan believes that Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo will beat Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for the presidency in 2022.

“Sara might have the numbers in the surveys, but winning elections is not going through the surveys, going through the numbers,” said 1Sambayan convenor Howard Calleja said.

“Winning elections is done through character, capability, integrity, honesty, all of which Vice President Leni has. And all of which will be as part to bring the votes come May 2022,” he added.

1Sambayan announced on Thursday that it has chosen Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo as its presidential bet for 2022. However, Robredo has yet to formally accept the endorsement of 1Sambayan.

On the other hand, Duterte-Carpio, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte said she will be seeking reelection as Davao City mayor in 2022.

Calleja made the remark on Duterte-Carpio after a latest Pulse Asia survey showed she was the top choice for president in 2022.

Pulse Asia said Duterte-Carpio is the most preferred candidate for president with 20 percent of Filipino adults backing her. However, the 20-percent rating is lower than her 28-percent rating she got in June this year.

The latest survey was conducted September 6 to September 11, 2021.

Coming in second with 15 percent is former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso with 13 percent, and Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao with 12 percent.
