One person was killed, 14 others were injured in a shooting at a Kroger grocery store in Collierville, Tennessee on Thursday afternoon.

The suspected shooter is also dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

13 victims were taken to hospitals nearby and one person suffered an anxiety attack and went on their own.

Authorities are investigating the shooting as a possible workplace violence incident.

44 people were working in the Kroger when the shooting happened, Collierville Police Department Chief Dale Lane said in a press interview.

Lane told the reporters that some hid in freezers and locked offices when the gunfire broke out at about 1:30 p.m. local time. One employee fled to the roof and was escorted to safety by police.

He also called the gun violence as the most horrific event that has occurred in Collierville history.

The police withheld information about the shooter while investigators attempted to determine if anyone else may have assisted him in the attack.

Kroger supermarket spokesperson Teresa Dickerson said the grocery chain is providing counseling for their store workers and the store would be closed until further notice.
