PHAP says it can keep prices of medicines stable in times of calamities.
MANILA, Philippines — The Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP), composed of Filipino and global providers of life-saving medicines and vaccines in the country, expressed support for the government’s efforts to ensure that prices of essential medicines remain stable in times of calamities.
PHAP, through the PHAP Cares Foundation, is also working with its members for its collective response to help the people displaced by the volcanic eruption through the provision of additional essential medicines for the evacuees.
Last Tuesday, it provided 16,500 face and N-95 masks as well as donated essential medicines for use of Taal evacuees and responders in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
PHAP executive director Teodoro Padilla also said its members are committed to continue making essential medicines available in areas affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.
“Our members will exert all efforts to ensure that medicines are available especially in this time when thousands of our countrymen are being affected by a calamity,” he said.
Padilla also said it is part of our continuity plan, making certain that the supply of medicines is uninterrupted even when there are emergencies because such will have public health consequences.
He added, “It is also during this period when we are committed to ensure that prices of essential medicines remain stable.
“We will support the Government and demonstrate our solidarity with our countrymen.” (Stacy Ang/IAMIGO/Currentph.com)
