ZAMBOANGA CITY – Unidentified gun men ambushed and killed the town vice mayor of Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte and two of his companions while inside the vehicle in Sta. Maria, Siocon.

According to Siocon town acting police chief, Maj. Edison Alviar at least five men armed with high-powered weapons fired upon Vice Mayor Gani Ismale, killing him instantly on the scene along with his three escorts while they were traveling to Baliguian.

Witnesses told police that the suspects fled the scene towards Baliguian town on board a grey pickup truck.

Alviar said the three of the victims were pronounced dead on arrival at the Siocon District Hospital while the fourth escort, identified as Abduladjid Ibno Bairula, survived the ambush.

The two other victims were identified as Patrolman Godelito Corbita Bongcac and Jaymalin Jalabi Tunggal. (Gerald Alayon/JGo/Currentph.com)
