MANILA, Philippines – PH’s bets for Starcraft II and Mobile Legends have made the playoff cut that will be staged today Friday, December 6.

In Starcraft II competitions, Caviar “Enderr” Acampado lorded it over in his group by romping off with an unblemished 5-0 record even as Justin “NuksPH” Santos had to go through a harder time but held on to snare the last playoff spot with a 2-3 record.

Meanwhile, the Mobile Legends competitions proved even more exciting as the Philippine team brought the partisan crowd to a white-knuckle finish, finding themselves in a do-or-die match against Thailand in what was the last battle of the night across all games.

PH players entered the match holding a 3-1 record even as Thailand flashed a 2-2 slate and then took the first game of 2 bringing the game to 3-2 for both teams before team PH swung back decisively to a dominant victory. (IAMIGO/CNS)

Gatchalian formally ascends Senate President-ship; Cayetano bloc retreats

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano’s concession that Senator Sherwin Gatchalian’s camp had already secured the numbers necessary to take the Senate presidency was an acknowledgment of political reality, not necessarily the end of his faction’s influence. Faced with an inevitable defeat, Cayetano stepped away from the highest seat in the chamber. But his departure came with a telling condition: his allies must retain control of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee — the chamber’s most potent instrument of investigation and political pressure.
