MANILA, Philippines — A Grab driver was allegedly killed by a still unnamed passenger-suspect who investigators claim may have fired the gun from the back seat of the car based on the gunshot wound to the back of the head of the victim.

The passenger-suspect accordingly booked the Grab driver victim in Quezon City yesterday (Monday) morning. Motive of the killing was not also immediately known.

The victim was identified as Henrich Villarosa Escudero, 33, and a resident of Libra St., Sierrra Vista Subd., Cupang, Antipolo Rizal.

The victim’s bloody body was found at around 5 a.m. lying on the driver’s seat of Toyota Vios and had a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

According to an initial investigation, QCPD Traffic Sector 3 first reported that a Grab driver’s vehicle collided with a concrete barrier as he was traveling along Katipunan Ave., and was allegedly making a turn in front of the MWSS to CP Garcia Avenue in the city.

The victim was immediately rushed by police to Quirino Medical Center but was declared dead-on-arrival around 6:40 am by Dra. Gizelle Estrella because of the gunshot wound to the head.

QCPD Traffic Sector 3 immediately informed CIDU that the driver’s death was not due to an accident or collision with another vehicle but because of his gunshot wound.

During the investigation, the CIDU found on the victim’s cellphone with the name of its last passenger through a Grab account and a Facebook account logged in as a possible suspect in the driver’s murder.

However, the authorities temporarily withheld the name of the last passenger of the victim Grab driver for further investigation. (Gelica Paulo/IAMIGO/CNS)
