Denise Belgira strikes gold in downhill mountain biking

MANILA, Philippines – Filipina cyclist Lea Denise Belgira snared the gold medal in the 30th Southeast Asian Games women’s mountain bike downhill event on Monday, 12 November 2019, in Laurel, Batangas Monday morning.

It was the first gold for host Philippines in the said event.

On Sunday, the Philippines failed to land a gold medal at the start of the mountain bike competitions.

Belgira dominated the competition in the race that began at the Aguinaldo Highway in Laurel down towards the Tatlong Bungo, a known trail for mountain bikers in the area.

Earlier today, duathlete Joey delos Reyes snatched a silver in the men’s duathlon event.
