Pinoy paddlers win 6 golds, snatch overall title in Guam tourney

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino Paddlers took home six gold medals and two overall championship crowns in different divisions at the 4th Guam Thanksgiving Day Dragon Boat Festival held recently in Guam, USA.

The Philippines snatched the overall titles in the 200m event and the 400m event, besting eight teams from Guam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Chinese-Taipei.

The Pinoy squad finished first in the women’s 200m small boat (12-seater) event after clocking two minutes and 25.54 seconds for the gold medal.

The team immediately followed it up in the women’s 400m small boat (12-seater) event at 5:30.04 in which bested Hong Kong (5: 44.61) to qualify for silver.

The Philippines re-entered the mixed 200m standard boat (22-seater) category after posting a time of 2:02.46 followed by another impressive performance in the mixed 400m standard boat (22-seater) at 4: 41.27.

The Philippine delegation did not stop from there and in the last day of the tournament they claimed another gold in the 200m open small boat (12-seater) with an impressive 1:02.03 time for gold.
