PH Men’s Rugby Team 4th in Olympic Qualifying tourney

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Men’s Rugby 7’s team just bid their Olympic hopes goodbye after finishing fourth in the 2019 Asia Rugby Seven Olympic Qualifying Tournament held in Incheon, South Korea.

This serves as the last international tournament for the Volcanoes who are now heading back home to continue with their final build-up in time for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games rugby competitions.

The Philippine Volcanoes and the National Women’s Rugby Team will be shooting for medals in the 30th SEA Games Rugby 7s slated on Dec. 7 and 8 at the Clark, Angeles City Parade Grounds.

They will first face Cambodia at the start of the preliminary rounds on December 7 at 9:40 am, followed by Laos at 11:40 am, Indonesia at 1:40 pm and Thailand at 3:40 pm.

On December 8, The Volcanoes are scheduled to battle Singapore at 11:20 a.m. and Malaysia at 1:40 p.m. The Finals and the Placement Rounds will also be held on the same day. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
