MANILA, Philippines – Ateneo De Manila University completed a 16-0 tournament sweep after dominating University of Santo Tomas anew, 86-79, in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 82 Finals on Wednesday, 20 November 2019 before a sellout crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Thirdy Ravena captured the Finals MVP for the third straight season after firing 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

He averaged 24.5 points on a 55% shooting clip on top of 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in their Finals series against the Growling Tigers.

But the victory wasn’t served in a silver platter.

The Blue Eagles had a hard time in the final frame after the Growling Tigers Dave Ando and CJ Cansino pulled them within one, 66-67, inside the last eight minutes.

It turned out as UST’s last stand as Ange Kouame and finals MVP Thirdy Ravena conspired for nine unanswered points giving Ateneo an 84-71 cushion from the hard fighting Growling Tigers.

Kouame finished with seven points and eight rebounds while SJ Belangel chipped in 15 big markers off the bench.

On the other hand, Rhenz Abando fronted the effort for the UST squad after scoring 16 points while Season MVP Soulemane Chabi Yo posted an 11-marker, 19-rebound double-double. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
