MANILA, Philippines – Don’t be alarmed but Instagram has started to hide likes here in the Philippines and abroad.

The test was run is being done by IG in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Japan, and New Zealand earlier this year.

Now it’s been expanded to the rest of the world and if, all of a sudden, you can’t see the number of likes on another user’s post, it’s because you’ve been included in this test an international report said.

“The layout is otherwise unchanged.”

In a tweet of Instagram on Twitter last night, it said that it is testing out the “hidden likes” feature globally.

The update of the app will show a user the number of likes “others” or “thousands of others” instead of seeing the exact number of likes and the people who also like a certain post.

The “others” button will able to see the total number of likes, not a follower(s).

This means that a significantly higher number of people will be logging into Instagram today and seeing their friends’ posts sans numbers.

IG said it still learning a lot more from the global community and clarified that the feature change is not permanent. (Cate Pallarco/IAMIGO/CNS)
