MANILA, Philippines — Three female Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Jeddah were reported to have been sexually assaulted by their employers and allegedly transferred to various employers for a fee to do odd jobs.
On Monday (11 November 2019), the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah sent a team to Al Ula in the province of Madinah to assist the three distressed OFWs and two other Filipino workers.
A lawyer and a translator helped the victims submit their case against their employer at the Office of the Public Prosecutor of Al Ula.
The accused employer was arrested immediately after the preliminary investigation was concluded.
The victims will be provided with legal representation by the consulate’s legal counsel.
They will also be helped with their criminal and labor cases and temporary shelter will be taken to the consulate. (Cate Pallarco/IAMIGO/CNS)
