PH snags gold in Indoor Archery World Series

MANILA, Philippines — Andrea Robles saved the day for Team Philippines as she snared a gold medal in the Women’s Individual Compound event at the 2020 Indoor Archery World Series on Sunday, 10 November 2019, at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau, China.

The 21-year old Robles outshone the best that there was in American World Championship Runner-up Paige Pearce-Gore on scores of 141-135 in the final round to capture the gold medal.

And before barging into the nerve-wracking finals, Robles gathered enough nerves of steel to put away the opposition in top-seeded Sarah Prieels of Belgium but by the skin of her teeth, 146-145.

But a win is a win and that definitely made Robles a marked archer in the upcoming 30th SEA Games where she will lead the National compound team’s cause.

Macau was the first of six events on the calendar of the 2020 Indoor World Archery Series. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
