MANILA, Philippines — Three members of a theatre group have been stabbed during a live performance on Monday, 11 November 2019, at the King Abdullah Park in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.

People in the theatre were seen running from the scene and the venue was reportedly evacuated after the incident.

Some reports said the victims were that of two men and a woman from the foreign group but their nationality was not yet identified.

It said the wounded were in stable condition but offered no information about the performers or the motivations of the assailant.

The police arrested the suspect after the incident and they described him as a 33-year-old Yemeni resident.

King Abdullah Park is one of several venues in Riyadh hosting a two-month-long entertainment festival, a part of a broad government push to open up the kingdom to tourists and diversify its economy away from oil. (Lloyd Tagbago/IAMIGO/CNS)
