The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low- pressure area (LPA) it was tracking is now 240 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur in a newsletter released Friday.

The LPA will bring scattered rain and thunderstorms to Bicol, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan.

Meanwhile, the north-eastern monsoon or hanging Amihan is affecting Northern Luzon.

Light rains can be experienced in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

PAGASA said “no significant impact” is expected from the northeastern monsoon, but if the thunderstorms become severe, the LPA and the easterlies could cause flash floods or landslides.

Other unmentioned parts of the country usually have fair weather on Friday, with isolated rains showers and isolated thunderstorms. Marian Andrei Sinamban/IAMIGO/CNS)
