MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has on Wednesday, 30 October 2019, declared beginning at noon tomorrow, Thursday, 31 October 2019, the suspension of work in government offices to give workers ample time to prepare in observance of All Souls’ Day or “Undas.”

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Memorandum Circular No.69 as authorized by President Rodrigo Duterte declaring the suspension of government work starting at 12 p.m., Thursday.

However, agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other quality of other vital services are excluded from the job suspension Medialdea said.

Medialdea stated that these agencies must continue to operate and provide the necessary services.

However, the Palace has not declared any suspension of classes and work in the private sector.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has already announced a full warning status ahead of Undas as millions of Filipinos are expected to flock cemeteries on November 1 and 2 to visit their perished loved ones.

The memorandum, which was signed on Wednesday by Medialdea, immediately takes effect. (Marian Andrei Sinamban/IAMIGO/CNS)
