Armed Forces of the Philippines Brigadier General Edgard Arevalo today said the death of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) Al-Baghdadi may significantly impact on the strength of terrorist organizations in the world.
This after United States President Donald Trump announced that the US military has confirmed that the body of a terrorist killed after his bomb vest exploded, was indeed of the ISIS leader. Al-Baghdadi got world wide recognition and notoriety after he led ISIS forces in the creation of an Islamic caliphate in the disputed territories.
Speaking before reporters today, Arevalo says local terrorist organisations might exploit the death of Baghdadi yet gave assurance that the AFP is ready for any eventuality.
Arevalo however does not believe that the country is under threat from these local terror groups. He downplayed fears that these groups would strike the Philippines as a retaliatory act.
