PDEA burns billions of pesos worth of assorted drugs that were seized from the different anti-drug operations in Metro Manila and from nearby provinces like Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, and Pampanga. The act was approved by the Supreme Court while Malacañang had been informed. This was to avoid a repetition of a similar shameful incident involving “Ninja Cops” who are resold confiscated drugs.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Thursday, October 24, incinerated confiscated drugs worth around P3.74 billion at an integrated waste management site in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martirez, Cavite.

PDEA Laboratory Service chief Derrick Carreon, who also serves as PDEA spokesperson, said these were seized from the different anti-drug operations in Metro Manila and from nearby provinces like Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, and Pampanga.

Burning the billion-peso worth of illegal drugs had the proper approval of the Supreme Court.

Malacañang has also been informed.

The agency did so to avoid a repetition of a similar shameful incident involving “Ninja Cops” who are reselling confiscated drugs.

Assorted drugs, including shabu, that were contained in boxes came from different courts that had been used as evidence, said Carreon.

Carreon also claimed the agency cannot be accused of any anomaly on the inventory of burnt drugs as these were all properly accounted for with the use of a weighing scale.

He said that before a certain amount of drug evidence comes out of their custodial evidence room it undergoes proper scrutiny. (BC/IAmigo/CNS)
