For the first time, former PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief and now Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong revealed to Current News Service (CNS) that he, along with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Aaron Aquino met with Philippine president Rodrigo Roa Duterte in a hotel before the chief executive went on an official trip to Russia.
In an exclusive interview with CNS, Magalong though refused to divulge the exact details of his meeting with the President except to say that he believes the President believed and trusted him–and Aquino.
Magalong is now thrust into the public limelight after he directly named PNP chief Oscar Albayalde as reportedly complicit behind the drug raid which happened last 2013 in Pampanga.
That drug raid, which initially resulted to the arrest of the Chinese Filipino drug lord Johnson Lee, and the confiscation of kilos of shabu and more than 35 million pesos, is now the subject of a Senate inquiry after Magalong tied Albayalde’s name to the actions of 13 of his men when he was still Pampanga provincial director.
Albayalde found nothing irregular with his behaviour of protecting his men. The PNP chief, who is set to retire this November 8, is confident that he still enjoys the support and trust of President Duterte.
