The management of Bell-Kenz, a pharmaceutical company founded by prominent doctors in the country, denies earlier accusations by Senator Jinggoy Estrada that they are involved in multi-level marketing with their fellow doctor colleagues. Estrada made his accusations in a personal privilege speech accusing the pharmaceutical company shortly after his half-brother, Senator JV Ejercito made an earlier resolution, yet did not name the company.
” We don’t recruit doctors, ” says Dr. Luis Go, a highly respected cardiologist who serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell Kenz, which sells medicines for anti-diabetes and hypertension. Go appeared before the Senate health committee chaired by Senator Bong Go.
During the hearing, the often flamboyant and publicity-hugging legislator, Senator Raffy Tulfo tried yet failed to pin down the good doctor when he asked about the marketing program being implemented by the firm founded in 2006.
Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc. asserts in a Senate Hearing on Tuesday that its marketing program is fully compliant with industry regulations. The company emphasizes its commitment to operating ethically and transparently, ensuring that all marketing activities adhere to applicable laws and standards.
“We are not an MLM company,” Dr. Luis Go, President of Bell-Kenz said in his opening statement. We are a law-abiding pharmaceutical entity, diligently adhering to all regulations set forth by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Philippine Medical Association, and other relevant governing bodies.”
Bell-Kenz reaffirmed the company’s dedication to regulatory compliance, stating, “We take our responsibilities seriously and have implemented robust measures to ensure that our marketing program is conducted within the bounds of legal and ethical guidelines.” Dr. Go also emphasized that they operate like any other pharmaceutical company and ensure that processes are done with transparency and ethical integrity.
“Bell-Kenz Pharma is a traditional pharma company. We have med-representatives, they see the doctors, they explain the indications, the contraindications of the drug, and doctors prescribe the drugs, and these are being purchased at the drugstore,” Dr. Go said.
Further elaborating on the MLM accusation thrown towards the company, “there is no doctor earning from another doctor at Bell-Kenz pharma. We won’t do that since that is against our principles that a doctor will benefit from another doctor,” he added.
Aside from refuting the claims against the company, Bell-Kenz also stressed how their company is more focused on providing Filipinos with high-quality but affordable medicines, with a dedicated workforce all driven by the same passion for advancing public health.
During the hearing, Dr. Go also emphasized that Bell-Kenz has made prices of maintenance medicines lower with significant savings. “People who are suffering from hypertension, diabetes, and coronary diseases will only need to spend PHP 128.15 daily, saving you PHP 445.50 to PHP 4,600.50 monthly and PHP 11,286 to PHP 55,206 yearly,” Dr. Go added as an example of the saving the company has given to the patients patronizing their products.
