MMDA Details AI Traffic Plan, NCAP Expansion and Vendor Policy Reforms
MMDA Chairman Nicolas Torre III outlined a technology-driven strategy for improving traffic management through AI-powered traffic cameras, NCAP, CCTV monitoring, and data-based decision-making. He explained that enforcement should go beyond issuing violations by using intelligent traffic systems, congestion analysis, and simulation tools to improve road safety and traffic flow across Metro Manila.
Torre also discussed the agency’s approach to illegal vendors and colorum operators, emphasizing coordination with barangays, LGUs, vendors’ organizations, and the LTFRB to develop lawful and practical solutions that protect both public order and livelihoods. The interview also covered the Four Es of traffic discipline, the planned rollout of hundreds of AI cameras, and his response to questions involving Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
