Akbayan-SJDM protests against PrimeWater, seeks permanent removal from San Jose del Monte
SAN JOSE DEL MONTE CITY, Bulacan — Members of the Akbayan Party–San Jose del Monte City Division staged a peaceful protest outside the PrimeWater office on Friday, calling for the company’s permanent removal from the city and urging authorities to hold accountable those allegedly responsible for the long-standing water service issues.
The protest also expressed support for the City Government’s continued management of the local water system, with the group opposing any move to return water operations to PrimeWater.
“This protest demonstrates Akbayan’s firm stand and solidarity with the people of San Jose del Monte, who continue to suffer from the failures of PrimeWater’s service,” said Akbayan-SJDM Division Chair Gery Bautista.
Bautista said access to adequate, safe, quality, and affordable water is a basic public service and a fundamental right of every resident.
Among the group’s key demands are the permanent removal of PrimeWater from San Jose del Monte, the restoration of transparent, responsible, and accountable management of the city’s water system, and accountability for officials and other parties allegedly responsible for the service failures that have affected residents.
Akbayan-SJDM also called for the immediate implementation of measures to ensure a continuous, safe, and reliable water supply across all communities in the city.
